Michael Yavnieli | Acting Studios
We have deconstructed the elements of a classic scene study class using tried and true methods obtained from years of study with master teachers and directors. Through the exploration of material from a diverse and rich array of playwrights, we approach the work in a specific, practical and actionable way.
We take advantage of current technology to meet online and in person. We use modern methods to deliver classical techniques to anyone, anywhere in the world. Hone your craft and learn how to think like an actor.
We will continue to provide a platform for a range of experts and working professionals to join us as guests to provide tools to make you ready for the workplace.
Michael received a BA in acting from Florida State University in 1995, and began his study with Milton Katselas at the famed Beverly Hills Playhouse in May of the following year. He has appeared in over 30 television shows and films over the course of his acting career, having been fortunate enough to work with Meryl Streep, Al Pacino, Dustin Hoffman, Steve Martin, Greg Kinnear, Toni Collette, Kiefer Sutherland, Jennifer Garner, Christian Slater, Virginia Madsen, Cynthia Nixon, John Leguizamo, and Doris Roberts among many others.
Some of the screen directors he has worked with include Nancy Meyers, Sam Raimi, Allen Coulter, Craig Gillespie, and JJ Abrams. Theatre highlights include the 2013-2014 run of Skylight Theatre Company's YEARS TO THE DAY, for which he was nominated for Best Actor awards by the LA Drama Critics Circle and LA Weekly. Michael did over eighty performances of YEARS TO THE DAY, in Los Angeles, Paris, New York, Edinburgh, and Kansas City. He has also collaborated with noted director Gene Reynolds three times for the Skylight Theatre Company, with Tony Award-winning actor John Glover, and with John DiFusco and Ron Kovic in the 2008 Hermosa Beach Playhouse production of TRACERS (directed by John Drouillard), for which he received critical acclaim. Michael has been fortunate enough to explore the craft of acting with some of the most respected and sought after teachers available, over literally hundreds of critiques and thousands of hours of work. He is honored to now be presented with the opportunity to attempt to communicate some of that to his students. Michael lives in Los Angeles with his wife and their daughters.
